Two years ago, we spent a week sailing in the Ionian Islands in western Greece and absolutely loved it. This time, we decided to explore the Cyclades, a group of islands with a special meaning for sailors.
Greece is a country that makes you dream: with its history, culture, Mediterranean food, and its 6,000 islands and islets. They speak of winds and gods. The Cyclades form a circle of islands southeast of Athens, with enchanting names: Delos, the island of the gods; Naxos, the island of Dionysus; or Mykonos, famous for its parties. If you go in summer, the Meltemi, a strong northern wind, makes sailing challenging, but in autumn it calms down and the weather becomes gentler. Although, as you’ll see in the video, we still got thoroughly soaked at times!
As for activities, this time we didn’t bring our kite gear, but we tried wingfoiling… not easy at all! You can see our attempts in this little video (…and yes, next time we’ll commit to either French or English, promised)
