In March 2025, we spent a week kitesurfing in Dakhla, Morocco. A timeless escape filled with steady wind, epic sessions, our favorite rosé Le Souffle, and that laid-back kitecamp vibe we love. Come along as we relive this unforgettable week! (Spoiler: there’s a video at the end 👇)
Dakhla feels like the end of the world, it’s a legendary kite spot. Tucked away in the far south of Morocco, over 1,500 km from Casablanca and just at the edge of Mauritania, this peninsula bordered by the Atlantic has long been a kitesurfing hotspot. What draws people here are the stats: over 300 windy days per year. But beyond the numbers, it’s the unique atmosphere, the vast playground, and the incredible sensations of every session that make it special.
Once a windsurfer’s haven, Dakhla is now ruled by the kite, at least, that was the case until recently. During our stay, we were surprised to see how much wingfoiling has taken off. Half the riders were on wings, changing the dynamic on the water. Fewer dramatic jumps, but more fluidity and smooth gliding.
We stayed at Dakhla Attitude, a camp we’ve come to know well. It was Benoît’s fourth time, Anna’s second. Located right on the edge of the lagoon, the spot offers breathtaking views of the water, visible the moment you wake up from your bungalow. It’s simple: sleep, eat, kite. And it feels amazing. The facilities are top-notch: comfy bungalows, a well-equipped watersports base, super friendly staff, and delicious, hearty Moroccan cuisine (especially the msemmen with honey, best breakfast ever!). Days flow in a rhythm of meals, kite sessions, naps, and sunny post-session apéros.
All week long, the wind delivered. We kited every day, sometimes on 9-meter kites, often on 7s, and even 12m on the lighter wind days. Temperatures were perfect: around 25°C during the day, with water warm enough for a light wetsuit. What makes Dakhla truly magical is the lagoon. It transforms with the tides. At low tide, the water becomes a mirror, super flat zones perfect for freestyle or learning jumps. At high tide, it gets a bit choppier, ideal for training in more technical conditions. Then there are the nearby spots: Speed Spot, accessible by 4×4 or… tractor (yes, really 😂), a flat-water highway with offshore wind; the majestic White Dune; and Dragon Island, which looks like it’s from another planet. Every outing feels like an adventure.
What we also love about Dakhla is the vibe. Everyone’s here to ride, improve, and share the stoke. There’s this unique mix of passion, simplicity, and escape that gives kitecamps their charm. We dine together, talk about our sessions, laugh at wipeouts, and hype each other up for the next ride. The crowd is diverse: families, couples, groups of friends, but everyone’s united by the same love of the glide. Far from flashy resorts, Dakhla offers rare authenticity, between desert and ocean.
We’ll let you discover it all (and more) in our video from the week. 👇
